News - 04/09/07 AR RAHMAN ACADEMY LAUNCH

On 4 th September 2007 AR RAHMAN Academy was officially opened by Sheikh Omar El-Deep Deputy Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar. This was a momentous occasion and a milestone in the history of AR RAHMAN Academy. Amongst those who attended were representatives within the political, social, religious circles and also prospective students of AR RAHMAN Academy. Over one hundred guests attended showing their support of the need of the first educational institute to be accredited by Al-Azhar Shareef. .

The evening commenced with the recitation of Surah Rahman from the Holy Quran, followed by the introduction of Sheikh Mohamed El Sharkawy by Mr Aizad Hussein. Dr El-Sharkawy the Dean of AR RAHMAN Academy emphasised on the importance of the need of AR RAHMAN Academy in modern day Britain, to educate Muslims in to the 21 st Century placing aside differences of schools of though and opinion and relating all rules and regulations to the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Dr El Sharkawy also touched on the dimension for the need for social harmony in Britain amongst the whole of society and pledged that not only would AR RAHMAN Academy be a centre of excellence in the study of Islamic Studies and Arabic but also Social Studies. Further votes of thanks were given by the Local Councillor Latifa Begum and Dr Ahmed El Dobyan the Chairman of the Islamic and Cultural Centre London.The presentation was concluded by the Honorary guest of Honour Sheikh Ahmed El Deeb and he summed up AR RAHMAN Academy for all who attended by stating “You no longer have to travel all the way to Egypt to study at Al-Azhar, Al-Azhar is here in the UK at AR RAHMAN Academy…… may Allah (swt) reward my Brother Dr. El-Sharkawy and all those involved in AR RAHMAN Academy for their hard efforts in bringing Al-Azhar to the UK.”

AR RAHMAN Academy would like to take this opportunity to thank our guest speakers Dr. Ahmed El Dobyan and Councillor Latifa Begum, our Guest of Honour Sheikh Ahmed El Deeb and all those involved in the organisation of this successful opening event, notably the families of Aizad Hussein, Seraj Tayeb, Ayyaz Kasmani, Farook Sher and Karim El-Nahas.
